Jim was **A**mazing. He had great stories and really engaged with the fans. He told this story about how he wanted to have different titles for his books, mostly comical but Penguin voted them down. My favorite (and the only one I remember off the top of my head) is Blood Rites was going to be named Money Shot — he had a ton of one liners. Of all the authors I’ve seen speak (not many, several) Jim seemed most natural. He didn’t appear coached and handled offhand questions with ease. He was very nerdy/geeky, like.. epically.

I’ve absolutely read the Inheritance trilogy, but really upset with Paolini — he’s totally sold out to schoolastic, and I hear the 4th book is being ghost written for him. The 3rd book was a letdown for me, nothing progressed, I think he did it just to make the thing 4 books long. Very upsetting. I’m still a fan regardless.

Not a big Adams fan, but I have read Hitchhiker stuff, I do enjoy Dirk Gently detective stories. BBC recently did a pilot for a Dirk Gently show, that was enjoyable.

The next book in the series will be known as Ghost Story according to the author’s website, and during a Q&A session at MarsCon on January 16, 2011, Butcher revealed that the book after Ghost Story will be titled Winter Knight.

Butcher is currently planning for approximately twenty books in the “case files” of the series, to be capped by a further “big apocalyptic trilogy”.

She was pretty funny. She actually flushed when she talked about meeting Ryan Kwantain (sp? Jason from HBO show) I think she said “those abs are not fake, I don’t think I washed my hand for a week after feeling them.” hilarity ensued. :)

I’m also looking for something new to read. Sookie series has lost luster. Dresden/Song of Ice and Fire/Monster Hunter Alpha isn’t out til July… /sigh I’ve picked up Brian Lumley’s Necroscope to read again, but would love something new.. You have any reccomendations?
